Sheikha Selina Begum Ali - Headteacher

Sheikha Selina has graduated with a Bachelors degree (BEd) in Primary Education, CELTA and PTLLS from London. She also completed a Diploma in Arabic Language and a Bachelors degree (BA) in Usul-Ad-Din and Usul-al Fiqh in Arabic medium from the European Institute of Islamic Sciences in France.  While studying Shariah she also completed an intensive Tajwid course on Ibn al-Jazari, a classical Tajwid text, and studied Tajwid extensively under a number of male and female Tajwid scholars. In particular, Sheikh Said Bouhdifi who obtained Ijazah for 10 recitations (Qira’at) from Sheikh Ayman Suaid and from Sheikh Abdul Munim As-Shalati. Also studied under Shaikh Farid, and Shaikha Reihab (both obtained Ijazah in 10 Qira'at from Shaikh Ayman), also studied under Shaikh Mabruk and Shaikha Muna and Kawsar, both obtained Ijazah from Shaikh Ayman Sheikha Selina had been teaching Tajweed, Aqidah, Fiqh and other Islamic Sciences in the UK in various courses, in particular, taught in Tartil courses (Beautifying recitation), Itqan courses (Perfecting recitation), Nafar Courses (Understanding Islam) and in Knowledgeseekers courses (Islamic Sciences) for the last 7 years. She also teaches at the Beacon Institute, of which, she is one of the founding directors.  She was recently been teaching Arabic for Life Long Learning Programme and Modern Foreign Language (MFL) Programme for London Borough of Tower Hamlets.  She delivers talks on education and on other various Islamic issues at University Campuses, Mosques and Islamic Centres.
